“The text output from the three printers is the hydroelectricity of the Yangtze River, the Yellow River and the Pearl River flowing through the region in the last 20 years. The dams intercept the entire river and the entire flow of water is revealed as the unit of energy ‘joule’ - the meaning of things is set at the very beginning. The three rivers of data, as pre-arranged holdings in the modern technical architecture, mechanically flow in a constant loop in a certain paradigm.”

We used a printer and aluminum extrusions to create an infinite loop printing device that simulates rivers passing through dams and hydroelectric power stations as a way to convey the idea that humans using nature and taking control of it and transforming the nature into one of humans’ mechanized tools of production.
